There’s been an awful lot going on, and hurricane season has knocked everything kind of askew. Since I know there are people out there who are curious, I thought I’d give updates on various things today. Also, I had nothing else to blog about. Funny how things work out, right?

Bless Me, Father & Hamlet

The play I’m directing at the Thibodaux Playhouse was supposed to open two weeks from tonight. We’ve lost two weeks of rehearsal and virtually every day that we were supposed to be constructing the set, and that’s just so far. You see, the theatre where we perform is still without electricity, so we’re kind of in limbo. I just got a message from the president of the Thibodaux Playhouse informing me that the Parks Service (they own the theatre) is willing to push the show back, but we can’t reschedule until they get power back. So as of now, Bless Me, Father will go on! I just don’t know when.

I wish I had the same news about Hamlet, but as of right now, I still don’t have any idea if the show will be rescheduled or when it will be rescheduled to. The Houma Civic Center, venue for the production, apparently took quite a hit from Gustav. I promise, I’ll let you know when I know.

2 in 1 Showcase

Chase and I still haven’t been able to get together to record the podcast. He’s doing fine, but he’s got no power, and Ike probably has slowed down the process of restoring it a bit. Last week, I did a hiatus episode of the show, and I’m intending to do a second hiatus episode this weekend. Erin rightly pointed out that no one would blame me for sitting these weeks out, but I’ve found that going a week with no content on the podcast feed actually drops the listenership. Ya gotta have something. So this weekend, I’m going to review the recent animated film Turok: Son of Stone and a few recent comics. If you’ve got an e-mail you’d like read on the show, you can still send ‘em to Showcase@comixtreme.com. And hopefully this will be the last hiatus episode — I really want to get back on track.

Halloween Party

Thanks ever so much to my lovely girlfriend Erin for making suggestions for this year’s upcoming Evertime Realms Halloween Party! Like I mentioned a few days ago, I’m looking for books, movies, comics, and anything else with a creepy theme to spotlight here in the month of October. Since I wasn’t working this week, I’ve banked four movie reviews so far, and I’m almost finished reading the first book I’m going to review — I still want suggestions, though! Hit me, guys!

Something cryptic…

Okay, guys, I hate to be cryptic here, but I have to. I’m the sort of person who is always working on one thing or another — a new book, a new story, a new play, something. And I’ve also learned from experience that it’s a mistake to announce such things until they are set in stone. At the moment, I’ve got not one, not two, but three such projects that have the potential to become something. And while I won’t yet tell you guys what those projects are, I’m asking for any prayers or good karma you want to send my way. I’m not above asking for help. Thanks.
