DC Infinite Heroes: Superman and the Teen Titans

It’s been a while since I managed to find any new Infinite Heroes action figures to review, although it hasn’t been for lack of trying. Every time I go into a comic book, department store, or toy store, I’m on the lookout for these things. Recently, I got my hands on two more of the three-packs I’ve been hunting for. By the way, if anyone knows when the next wave is going to be released, please let me know.

First up, my old buddy Superman:

Wonder Girl, Superman & Supergirl

Wonder Girl, Superman & Supergirl

Clark Kent (center) is flanked here by the two young ladies that accompanied him in his cardboard and plastic Fortress of Solitude. In blue, it’s his cousin Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl. In red, it’s Kara’s best friend Cassie Sandsmark, A.K.A. Wonder Girl. I love the Superman figure — the sculpt isn’t bad, the proportions are right, and now I can use the 3.75-inch man of steel to prove conclusively that Superman can beat Darth Vader in a fight. The girls are okay, but (as these are the first female Infinite Heroes toys I’ve gotten) I see an immediate problem with the sculpt: these body types simply cannot stand up. When I saw that the box included two stands, and the other Infinite Heroes I’ve gotten didn’t have any, I wondered if there was some sort of mix-up. Then I realized that Kara and Cassie’s legs simply cannot hold their bodies upright without the stand for support. Boo-urns. Let’s fix the sculpt.

Starfire, Captain Boomerang & Raven

It was the same story when I opened the second pack, which also contained two female characters. From the Teen Titans, we have Starfire and Raven. The girls look pretty good, and their sculpts look to be a little better than Supergirl and Wonder Girl, but they still need the stands to stay up without just toppling over. The girls come with Owen Marshall, the second Captain Boomerang. He’s an interesting character — he never seems to know if he wants to be a hero or a villain. The figure is cool too — although the boomerangs don’t actually come off and the scarf is perpetually in a weird place.

I really hope the next wave of these figures comes out soon… even as I’m still trying to complete the first.
