It’s been a while since I managed to find any new Infinite Heroes action figures to review, although it hasn’t been for lack of trying. Every time I go into a comic book, department store, or toy store, I’m on the lookout for these things. Recently, I got my hands on two more of the three-packs I’ve been hunting for. By the way, if anyone knows when the next wave is going to be released, please let me know.
First up, my old buddy Superman:

Wonder Girl, Superman & Supergirl
Clark Kent (center) is flanked here by the two young ladies that accompanied him in his cardboard and plastic Fortress of Solitude. In blue, it’s his cousin Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl. In red, it’s Kara’s best friend Cassie Sandsmark, A.K.A. Wonder Girl. I love the Superman figure — the sculpt isn’t bad, the proportions are right, and now I can use the 3.75-inch man of steel to prove conclusively that Superman can beat Darth Vader in a fight. The girls are okay, but (as these are the first female Infinite Heroes toys I’ve gotten) I see an immediate problem with the sculpt: these body types simply cannot stand up. When I saw that the box included two stands, and the other Infinite Heroes I’ve gotten didn’t have any, I wondered if there was some sort of mix-up. Then I realized that Kara and Cassie’s legs simply cannot hold their bodies upright without the stand for support. Boo-urns. Let’s fix the sculpt.

Starfire, Captain Boomerang & Raven
It was the same story when I opened the second pack, which also contained two female characters. From the Teen Titans, we have Starfire and Raven. The girls look pretty good, and their sculpts look to be a little better than Supergirl and Wonder Girl, but they still need the stands to stay up without just toppling over. The girls come with Owen Marshall, the second Captain Boomerang. He’s an interesting character — he never seems to know if he wants to be a hero or a villain. The figure is cool too — although the boomerangs don’t actually come off and the scarf is perpetually in a weird place.
I really hope the next wave of these figures comes out soon… even as I’m still trying to complete the first.

I saw that Superman pack this past Sunday at a Target…but where the first two 3-packs were $9.99 around here, they’ve now jumped to $16.99, so I let it pass. (Though the single-card figures are still $4.99, and the stockers don’t seem to differentiate between Infinite Heroes and Justice League Unlimited).
I have just under 60 figures. I really like this scale. Target has been the store of choice with singles for $4.99 while Walmart with their “low price guarantee” remain at $6.97 after being challenged many times on this. Their 3-packs have been the best price here at $15.96. TRU recently put theirs on clearance. The “Battle for Metropolis” $50 set dropped to $35- Superman, Shazam, Captain Atom, Lex in power armor, and 4 lexcorp goons with helmet. The GL 6-pack dropped about $10 and I caught a sale with another 20% off at the register. The 2-packs which were never in stock at regular price finally arrived in time for the clearance. The most recent 3-pack to look for is Shazam, Black Adam, and …….Mary Marvel! This pack has her in white. I have heard that that is a variant with the single in red, but I have not seen the red yet. Also, if you have not heard, go to Mattycollector.com to get your exclusive Antimonitor figure, available as of August 3. A variant was available at SDCC for 50 antimonitor points. This is supposedly the only available use for these points. I think that is a blunder on Mattels part on par with NBC’s decision to can Star Trek. We all know how that turned out.
I do, in fact, have the Mattycollector Anti-Monitor figure, although I haven’t had a chance to feature him here on the site yet. I’ve really been having trouble finding figures lately — it doesn’t appear my local stores are supporting the line very much. I may have to turn online soon. (GASP!)
