In 1939 Siegel City only had one superhero, the world’s first. When he discovered his powers, Gabriel Ruston thought he would be the second, but died on his first excursion in costume.

After Gabriel’s death, his brother David is drawn into an investigation. What if Gabriel wasn’t the second? What if there were others? What if something tragic happened to all of them?

In Siegel City, nothing is ever what it seems… even in a Golden Age.

Weekly Roundup: Batfleck and Robin Hood

It was a big week for nerd culture and a big week at Reel to Reel movies. Here’s what I put out into the world this week…

• Erin and I talked about the casting news that gave the internet a nosebleed in All New Showcase #293: Batfleck.
• At Reel to Reel it was Robin Hood Week, beginning with Errol Flynn in The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938).
• Time marched on to the Disney version with Brian Bedford in Robin Hood (1973).
• An older Robin Hood took the stage in Sean Connery in Robin and Marian (1976).
• We met the Robin Hood of my youth in Kevin Costner in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991).
• And a version that wasn’t quite as funny as when I was 15 in Cary Elwes in Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993).

Like this guy: “Aqua Vitae.” He could move water around… harden it, shape it, twist it into anything he wanted it to be. I wonder what he could have accomplished if he’d been around a little longer.

Blake’s Weekly Roundup: Ass-Kickery

Next week promises to have quite a bit for you, my friends, but this week we’ve got a few things to share…

• I gave my thoughts on the summer’s last superhero movie in Reel to Reel’s Gut Reactions: Kick-Ass 2.
• I ranted against how our media has generated a spoiler culture and how it hurts writers in Everything But Imaginary #496: When Fans Won’t Let the Writers Write.
• And I announced the next Reel to Reel project in Next Week is Robin Hood Week.

Also, I began some tentative plans for a new and different sort of podcast project. No promises yet, but hopefully you’ll have something interesting to listen to before too long. Have a good one.

Blake’s Weekly Roundup: Sweet and Sour

The first full week of school is over, and while it was eventful, it’s not the sort of thing that lends itself easily to content creation. On the other hand, I had a few ideas this week I’m really rather excited to follow. Time will tell if anything comes from them.

• Over at CXPulp, I express my frustration with nerd negativity in Everything But Imaginary #495: Accentuate the Positive.
• And at Reel to Reel, I talk about the sheer fun that’s to be had at a RiffTrax Live event in Fun With Riffing.

Blake’s weekly roundup: Wolverine meets the Puppet Master (but not really)

I went back to work this week after a nice summer of wedding planning and being eaten by a giant plant. However, that didn’t leave me with an awful lot of time to turn out content for you guys. But I still managed a little. Here’s what I did last week that’s currently available for your consumption…

• There was a superhero movie double feature review as Kenny and I discussed The Wolverine and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox in All New Showcase at the Movies Episode 37.
• Reel to Reel’s “Crappy Movie Roulette” feature led to me reviewing the 1989 slasher flick Puppet Master.
• Aaaaand… that’s about it. Sorry there wasn’t more guys, hopefully I’ll be able to turn out a little something extra this week.
