Blake’s Weekly(ish) Update

It’s been a few weeks since my last “weekly” update, hasn’t it, guys? Sorry about that, it’s been a rough couple of weeks. But here’s a roundup of everything I’ve put out in the universe for you guys since the last time I did a recap.

• The Pyrite War is now available everywhere… Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Smashwords.com (this is my definition of “everywhere”), and I’d LOVE if you could drop a review on any of those sites or at Goodreads.com.
• I explained why the new iTunes is terrible in An Open Letter to Apple Computers.
• I talked about the final season of one of my favorite TV shows in I am Ted Mosby (or) Why How I Met Your Mother needed a ninth season.
• At Reel to Reel, I gave you a blast from the past by representing my epic 2007 marathon of all 11 (at the time) Friday the 13th Movies.
• Then in 2008 I joined forces with the Showcase boys for a marathon of the entire Nightmare on Elm Street series.
• For Podcast listeners, Kenny and I traveled to Slidell to talk to the guys at Magic Mini-Con 2.
• And in a solo podcast, I again ranted about Apple, then went on to recommend several cool comics in One Shot #12: Podcast Problems.
• Finally, I talked about the premiere of Agents of SHIELD and the announcement of a new Gotham TV show in Everything But Imaginary #498: Marvel and DC Geek TV.

Weekly Roundup: Batfleck and Robin Hood

It was a big week for nerd culture and a big week at Reel to Reel movies. Here’s what I put out into the world this week…

• Erin and I talked about the casting news that gave the internet a nosebleed in All New Showcase #293: Batfleck.
• At Reel to Reel it was Robin Hood Week, beginning with Errol Flynn in The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938).
• Time marched on to the Disney version with Brian Bedford in Robin Hood (1973).
• An older Robin Hood took the stage in Sean Connery in Robin and Marian (1976).
• We met the Robin Hood of my youth in Kevin Costner in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991).
• And a version that wasn’t quite as funny as when I was 15 in Cary Elwes in Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993).
• And what happened right here at the Realms, you ask? You met a new player in the world of Siegel City with Countdown to The Pyrite War #12: Aqua Vitae. Come back each day to meet a new player until the war begins.

Blake’s weekly roundup: Wolverine meets the Puppet Master (but not really)

I went back to work this week after a nice summer of wedding planning and being eaten by a giant plant. However, that didn’t leave me with an awful lot of time to turn out content for you guys. But I still managed a little. Here’s what I did last week that’s currently available for your consumption…

• There was a superhero movie double feature review as Kenny and I discussed The Wolverine and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox in All New Showcase at the Movies Episode 37.
• Reel to Reel’s “Crappy Movie Roulette” feature led to me reviewing the 1989 slasher flick Puppet Master.
• Aaaaand… that’s about it. Sorry there wasn’t more guys, hopefully I’ll be able to turn out a little something extra this week.

So this week, I finished the most recent draft of my next novel, The Pyrite War. Hopefully, there’ll be a lot more information about that very soon. But what else did I do this week?

All New Showcase Episode 292: San Diego Comic-Con 2013

This week, Blake decides it’s high time the Showcase got a new coat of paint, a slightly amended format, and a much snazzier archive page. Welcome to the first episode of the All New Showcase! In this episode, Blake explains the reasons for the change before sitting down with Kenny and Erin to talk about all the news from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con International.
